Gridiron Australia invites suitable persons to submit an expression of interest in joining the National Outback Flag Program as Head Coach for Open Mens and Open Women’s teams.

The Outback Flag program is focussed on raising the standard of all players throughout Australia culminating in the participation in international competitions such as the IFAF World Championships and other upcoming international competitions.
The appointment term is until November 2023.

Requirements of the role
• Minimum recognition and accreditation as a Head Coach by Gridiron Australia
• Experience in working with a State and/ or National program in a head coach or coordinator role
• Experience in running combines and/ or coaching clinics to a variety of attendants and skill levels
• Experience in coaching in a “camp” environment
• Experience in managing a “remote” player base and coaching staff
• A strong commitment to the Outback program and its ethos of raising the standard of all Australian players
• Participation in state based Elite Academy programs.
• Willingness to work with the other Outback coaches to deliver the overall goals of the Elite Academy Program
• Be in good standing with Gridiron Australia

Responsibilities of the role
• Selection of coaching staff
• Organisation of selection trials
• Participation in state based coaching clinics
• Selection of training squads
• Organisation of training sessions leading into tournament(s)
• Final selection of tournament squads Submissions should include the following
• Details addressing the criteria above
• Outline the applicant’s approach to coaching staff selection
• Outline the applicant’s other current coaching commitments Remuneration
• Whilst this is a voluntary role all pre-approved “out of pocket” expenses including but not limited to travel and accommodation will be reimbursed.
