Gridiron Australia is proud to present the Elite Athlete Academy

From 2022, we have strengthened the pathways between club football, and representative pathways to international competition. The Elite Academy will provide year round football, with opportunities for players aged 14+ and coaches.

We have partnered with organisations to provide the best tools for athletes and coaches willing to commit to success.

“We think the development of this elite academy serves to keep our players involved with the game year round, elevate possibilities for international representation and improve the quality of talent in all states.”
Stacey Speer, GA Emerging Programs Director.

From the Elite Academy, our national teams will be selected and opportunities for scouting, trialling and will be held year-round in your state.

The Elite Academy will focus the following programs:

Mens 18+
Womens 18+
Under 20’s
Youth Pathways 14-17

Open Mens Flag
Open Womens Flag
Youth Flag

And also development pathways for identified coaches, with a large focus on developing female coaches.

“The introduction of this state-based National Elite Academy Program is inclusive of Women,
Men and Junior Athletes for both Contact and Flag forms of Gridiron in Australia with the
aim to develop athletes and coaches to the elite level, to improve the level of performance in local competitions with the development of
coaches via the program as well as the academy athletes lifting the level of
competition with their improved performance over time. We want to have a pool of athletes and coaches to select National teams from that are training under a consistent uniformed system and always maintaining a minimum level of performance for upcoming exhibition and international competition.”
Michael Kerr – GA National Programs Director.
